My supervisor had one or two bosses to report to, one of which was a professor that I talked to frequently and attended classes with. (IE making a larger solution if too much solute was added.)

I learned that even professors with PhD's can make mistakes and that even when a mistake is made, there's always a creative way to correct it. I reviewed calculations my supervisor made, to insure there would be no problem with the experiment preparation. Some of the solutions were extremely toxic.

My typical day as a lab assistant included creating solutions for students to analyze or to use. Working for someone who always challenged me to learn more and try a new way to do something. The overall environment of meeting people from such diverse backgrounds. There were many enjoyable aspects of this job. At commencement and orientation there was a tremendous amount of pressure to get everything done in 7.5 hours. The best group of co-worker I ever had the pleasure to work with because they were considerate, friendly, helpful, and polite. Loved my boss and the College President at the time. Almost everyday I learned something new from the students, coworkers, professors, just everyone involved in the school. Coordinating the activities of the Dean of Students office included everything from writing orientation and commencement newsletters schedule job interview days, pharmacy licensure review courses, mailings to incoming and graduating students, completing F1 visas for international students, organizing and developing computer and filing methods to keep track of a wide range of information.
